A Few Words About Malampuzha

Malampuzha Garden: (10 km from Palakkad) This famous picnic spot, which comprises of a dam and beautifully landscaped gardens, is situated on the lower hills of the Western Ghats.

The garden: (Open 1000 – 1930 hrs) Penetrated with lust lawns, flower beds and fountains, the key attraction include a rose garden and an aerial ropeway. Ph: 0491-2815295 the dams and gardens are illuminated on Saturdays, Sundays and National Holidays from 1900 – 2000 hrs. On other days they are illuminated on request for a fee.

The Reservoir: Boating and fishing facilities are available here. Pedal boats, row boats, water scooters and motor boats can be hired, from 1000 – 1800 hrs. A well maintained swimming pool (Tuesday holiday), a fresh water aquarium (Open 1100-2000 hrs, 1300-2100 hrs on holidays), a snake park (open 0800-1800 hrs) and a children’s park are other add-ons.

Rope Way :The Passenger Ropeway offers an adventurous and delightful air-journey of 20 minutes across the garden, giving a soul stirring view of the gardens, dam and distant hills that kisses the heaven and the blue strips of the reservoir. Rock Garden: The beautiful and unique Rock Garden is located near the Malampuzha Garden (Just 1/2 KM. en-route to Malampuzha – Kanjikode – Coimbatore road) The Garden has an important message about recycling of waste, ecology, the human creative mind and the creative process. Second only to the Chandigarh Rock Garden, created by the Master craftsman Padmasri Nek Chand Saini. (open 1000 – 1800 hrs)

Vatika

Vatika Garden:A very attraction small garden with facilities for children’s entertainment is situated near the parking area of the Fort.

Kanhirapuzha Dam Garden

(45 km from Palakkad) Kanhirapuzha Garden lies on the valley of Western Ghats. Vettilacholas an evergreen forest is immediately beyond the Dam reservoir. The Vakkotan Mala (Hill) gives a natural backdrop to the garden. The reservoir is surrounded by hills and during winter season the mountain will be covered with mists.

Mangalam Dam Garden

(50 km from Palakkad) A popular spot, the dam is built across the Cherukunnath River, a tributary of the Mangalam River. Other attractions: Kunchiyarpathy – 20 km from Mangalam Dam Thippali Waterfalls: from Mangalam Dam 10 km, Allingal waterfalls from Mangalam Dam 14 km etc.
